NLPNP Skilled Worker

This category is designed for international workers and prospective immigrants who possess skills that are valuable to the labor market in Newfoundland and Labrador. To qualify, applicants must have a guaranteed job offer from a local employer or be currently employed in the province on a valid work permit. Employers must demonstrate a need for the applicant’s skill set.

How to Apply

Online Applications:

  • Use the online application process to receive regular updates on your application’s progress.
  • Applications that are partially completed but not submitted will be closed after 90 days.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Job Offer: Must have a full-time job offer or be employed for at least two years with the possibility of extension from an eligible Newfoundland and Labrador employer. The salary and benefits must meet provincial standards.
  2. Qualifications: The job should match your qualifications, training, skills, and/or accreditation.
  3. Age: Must be between 21 and 59 years old.
  4. Work Permit: Must have an IRCC Work Permit with at least 4 months remaining or be eligible to apply for one.
  5. Settlement Intent: Must intend and be able to settle permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador.
  6. Financial Resources: Sufficient funds to support yourself and any dependents.
  7. Language Skills: English or French language proficiency required for job duties. Occupations classified under NOC Code C or D must meet minimum language requirements.
  8. In-Canada Refugee Claimants: Must have valid temporary resident status. Open work permits while awaiting refugee claim results do not qualify.
  9. Business Ownership: If you own a business, your ownership stake must not exceed 10%.

Ineligibility Criteria:

  • Post-Graduate Work Permit holders must apply under the International Graduate category.
  • Criminal record for you or any dependent family member over 22.
  • Unresolved custody or child support disputes.
  • Intentional misrepresentation by you or the employer.
  • Refugee claimants with rejected, abandoned, or withdrawn claims must exit Canada before applying.

Important Notes:

  • Ensure your passports and work permits are valid.
  • You may be required to participate in an interview with a NLPNP Program Officer.
  • Notify your Immigration Officer immediately if you lose or quit your job during the nomination process. This may result in the cancellation of your nomination and Permanent Residency application.
  • Activities constituting fraud will be investigated and may lead to criminal proceedings.
  • Review your application and document checklist carefully.
  • Application fee: $250 (non-refundable).

Decision-Making Process

Application Screening:

  • Day 1-3: A complete application is received and assigned to an Immigration Development Officer. Applicants will receive email notifications and status updates on their online dashboard.

Due Diligence:

  • Day 4-20: The Immigration Development Officer reviews the application and makes a recommendation to delegated authority. Applicants will receive notifications when their application is sent to delegated authority and updates on their dashboard.

Assessment and Final Decision:

  • Day 21-25: The delegated authority reviews the assessment and makes a final decision. Applicants will be notified of the decision via email and dashboard updates.

Process Steps:

  1. Submit your Evaluation form to our team.
  2. Obtain an assessment report.
  3. Submit documents for verification.
  4. Obtain a Positive Verification report.
  5. Register for the services (if assessment & verification are positive).
  6. Submit additional documents and family members’ documents.
  7. Complete forms.
  8. Apply to NLPNP online.
  9. NLPNP application screening.
  10. NLPNP due diligence.
  11. NLPNP assessment & final decision.
  12. Receive work permit support letter (LMIA Exempt).
  13. Apply for Visa at IRCC.
  14. Attend Biometric Appointment.
  15. Submit Biometrics at the nearest VFS.
  16. IRCC background check.
  17. Visa Decision:
    • Approval: Submit passport for stamping.
    • Refusal: Options include appeal, check other options, or request a refund.

Payment Terms:

  • Registration: 10% of total professional service charge.
  • Initiate Online Application: 30% of total professional service charge (NLPNP Fees $250 by client).
  • Decision from NLPNP: 20% of total professional service charge.
  • Visa Application: Visa & Biometric Fees (by client).
  • Visa Decision: 40% of total professional service charge.
